Almento is one of the most famous Saudi recipes ever. It is a dough stuffed with dazzling minced meat. Learn how to prepare the best Saudi cooking with my lady’s kitchen

Salt: a teaspoon

Eggs: 1 pcs

Water: a cup

Obesity: a teaspoon

Minced meat: 750 gr

Onions: 2 pcs (chopped)

Black pepper: a teaspoon (to taste)

Chicken broth cube: 2 pcs (dissolved in 3 tablespoons of water)

Flour: 3 cups

How to prepare

1 In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and egg, then gradually add the water. Mix these ingredients, until it forms a cohesive dough. You can add more water if necessary.

2 Divide this dough into small portions of equal size, and make into small balls, then cover and set aside for an hour.

3 To prepare the filling: mix the minced meat with onions, and sprinkle with black pepper. Then add the chicken broth dissolved in water.

4 Roll each ball, stuff it with a teaspoon of the filling, then fold to close. Repeat this process, until supplies run out.

5 Grease a saucepan, especially for steaming "mento", with ghee. The stuffed dough balls are distributed in the pot basket. Fill the bottom half of the pot with hot water, and sprinkle the salt on the water. Cover the pot tightly, then place over a medium heat for 50 minutes, or until the balls are tender.

6 To serve: Serve the mantou balls on a serving platter, hot.
