Chimney Sweep's Tip for Keeping a Chimney Fire Burning All Night.

Are you having trouble keeping a fireplace going all night? Whether it's a fireplace or stove fire, it's not so easy to keep it going when you sleep!

No one wants to get up at night to feed it… So, how do you get embers when you wake up the next morning?

Luckily, the other day the chimney sweep came to the house and gave me his trick for making the fire last all night. The trick is to put the logs on a bed of embers and cover them with ashes. Look :

How to do it
1. Before going to bed, make sure you have a good bed of red hot embers.

2. Place four logs of dense wood (e.g. oak) in the fireplace.

3. Using the pliers, place them together so that they are tight.

4. Wait until the logs have started to burn.

5. Using the shovel, cover the logs with ash to prevent the wood from burning too quickly.

And there you have it, thanks to this grandmother’s trick, your fire lasts all night :)

Easy, quick and effective, right? Now you know how to make your fire last a very long time.

You go to bed peacefully. And in the morning, nice surprise!

You have nice embers remaining in the fireplace. Now it's much easier to start a new outbreak for the day. The house is heated… No need to turn on the heating at night to keep the right temperature.

This saves a lot of energy!

Additional tips for keeping a fire going all night

For this tip to work, the temperature of the fire must remain above 250°C. And to do this, you must maintain your fire by gradually refilling it with dry wood. This allows you to have nice embers.

– When feeding the fireplace or stove with logs, be sure to choose them that are very regular, of approximately the same size. – You must then place them tightly against each other. The goal is for it to form a homogeneous block. – Cover them with ashes by blocking the holes between the logs.

– To make it easier to collect the ashes, it is best to put some aside in the morning when you empty the fireplace. Your turn... Have you tried this easy trick to keep a fireplace burning at night? Tell us in the comments if it was effective for you. We look forward to reading you!
