Big Apple Fritter Recipe

After lining baking pans with wax paper, set cooling racks on top. Put aside.

In a medium-sized basin, whisk together the salt, cinnamon, sugar, baking powder, and flour.

After you make a well in the middle, add 1/3 cup of milk, along with the eggs and applesauce.

Gently mix until combined.

Add the apples and stir to combine.

Bring a large cast-iron skillet, Dutch oven, or deep fryer filled with 1 ½ to 2 inches of oil to a temperature of 375°F.

Distribute the batter evenly as you drop about 1/4 cup of batter each fritter into the heated oil.

Flip and cook for another 2 minutes, or until golden brown.

Drain by placing on paper towels.

Combine 1/4 cup milk, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla extract in a large mixing basin. Whisk to combine.

Toss in the glaze and dunk each fritter, making careful to cover all sides.

Allow to drip dry and air dry on the wire racks.

Advice If you want your fritters to be tender, don't overmix the batter.

To make it simpler to keep the oil temperature consistent and to fry the donuts evenly, make sure the pan is not too full.

To keep the oil at the right temperature, a candy thermometer is a must-have.

To keep the oil from burning, use a Dutch oven or a pan made of cast-iron.

Keep the temperature at 375° F as much as possible. Raise the heat just a little bit after adding the batter since the temperature will decrease just a little. Then, lower the heat slightly since the temperature will rise when you take the fritters from the oil.

Pour out any excess oil by transferring the cooked fritters to paper towels.

After the fritters have cooled, place them in a brown paper bag with a layer of paper towels on top. Thus, they will retain their freshness for an extended period of time.
