You should start by getting your oven up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
2. Beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until well combined and light and fluffy.
3. Gradually add the eggs, beating after each addition to ensure full incorporation.
Separate a separate bowl and mix the flour, baking soda, and salt with a whisk.
5. Mix in the dry ingredients gradually with the creamed mixture.
6. Combine the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
7. Gently pour the mixture onto cookie sheets that have not been buttered.
Step 8: Preheat oven to 375 degrees and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until sides are lightly browned.
9. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and let the cookies rest for 5 minutes. Then, place them to a wire rack to cool entirely.

Tips and Variations
Half a cup of chopped pecans or walnuts would be a great addition to the dough for nut lovers. A teaspoon of cinnamon, if you're in the mood for something hot, will bring a warm, spicy tone that goes wonderfully with the sugary chocolate and candy.
